I Don't Date Black Girls

My face exactly...
“I would never date black women” once said a black man.
I will never understand why a man, especially a black man would say anything like this. I also don’t think black men understand how hurtful it is to hear this come out of their mouth. When you tell a black woman that you would never date them and their skin is the same color as yours, you sound crazy. To all the black men who have stated this comment you do understand your mom, grandmother, sister, and aunt are all black women. Saying this is like basically saying as a black woman we aren’t deserving of love and then you want to throw a white girl in our face as if she’s “better.”
See the problem our brothers will never understand is that we don’t care if you date white women just don’t belittle or talk down to black women in the process. Black women are Queens and quite frankly if you aren’t going to treat us as such we’ll find somebody who will. See as black women we see ourselves as the cream of the crop and the crème de le crème, so we don’t need validation. What we need are our brothers to stand beside us instead of tearing us down.
And honestly, I think black men make the comment because they know the power black women possess. It’s no secret that black women are the fastest-growing group of entrepreneurs in America just like it’s no secret that black men are sometimes intimidated by black women. So when a black man wants to fit all black women into a stereotype by calling us all ghetto or controlling we know that’s just a cover-up. You can’t generalize an entire race. We know it’s the fear and intimidation that’s holding you back and instead of challenging yourself you find someone who’s weak-minded and less intimidating to make yourself feel better.
The moral of the story is that as black women we know all to well about the struggle. We’re already looked down upon by a number of races. So black men send love and positivity to black women. You don’t have to date us or even desire us we just ask that you respect and support us as we do the same for you.
